The aim of the practice is to help children and adults with their many and varied psychological difficulties. The practice consists of three highly qualified, experienced Educational Psychologists, Elizabeth, Karina, Lucia and Dr. Rosalind Bishop (see "The Team" for details). We have Registered Psychologists and are Members of The Psychological Society of Ireland, our professional body in Ireland..
We often see clients when a decision is being made about going to primary school, when the children are transferring to secondary school or before they sit state exams such as the Junior Cert. or the Leaving Cert. We see an ever-increasing number of third level students (many of whom are mature students) and also working adults who are considering a career change or are concerned about their skills at work.
Since the beginning, our practice has been providing assistance with the Irish Exemption, Reasonable Accommodations for Junior and Leaving Certificate exams, the Disability Access Route to Education (DARE) applications when applying to third level and the full range of educational psychology issues including:
Recommending extra resources that children qualify for in school, e.g. special education teaching.
Issues that adopted children have.
Children and adults - of all ages from six years onwards presenting with:
Learning difficulties
Language difficulties
Specific learning difficulties - Dyslexia and Dyscalculia
Behavioural and emotional issues relating to school
Anxiety
Concentration and Attention difficulties
ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder)
Developmental delay
As a team, we believe it is very important to put clients at their ease and to be relaxed and friendly, as well as being absolutely professional. We pride ourselves on our ability to explain the results of psychological assessments in a friendly, coherent and positive manner – most of all in plain English.
