RK Bishop & Co.
Welcome to Our Practice
The aim of the practice is to help children and adults with their many and varied psychological difficulties. The practice consists of three highly qualified, experienced Educational Psychologists, Karina, Elizabeth, Anita and me, Dr. Rosalind Bishop (see "The Team" for details). We are all Registered Psychologists and are all Members of The Psychological Society of Ireland our professional body in Ireland. We are ably supported by Cathy, our practice manager.
A brief summary of our friendly professional practice
What we do
We often see clients when a decision is being made about going to national school, when the children are transferring to secondary school or before they sit public exams such as the Junior Cert. or the Leaving Cert. We see an ever-increasing number of third level students (many of whom are mature students) and also working adults who are considering a career change or are worried about their skills at work.
Since the beginning, our practice has been providing assistance with the Irish and Modern Language Exemptions, Reasonable Accommodations for Junior and Leaving Certificate exams, the Disability Access Route to Education (DARE) applications when applying to third level and the full range of educational psychology issues including:
Recommending extra resources that children qualify for in school, e.g. learning support or resource hours.
Issues that adopted children have.
Preparation of court reports for children and adults.
Who we see
Children and adults - of all ages from pre school:
PDD NOS (Pervasive Developmental Disorder)
Specific learning difficulties - Dyslexia
Concentration and Attention difficulties
ADHD (Attention Deficit Hyperactive Disorder)
Autism Spectrum Disorder, Asperger’s syndrome
As a team, we believe it is very important to put clients at their ease and to be relaxed and friendly, as well as being absolutely professional. We pride ourselves on our ability to explain the results of psychological assessments in a friendly, coherent and positive manner – most of all in plain English.
